Royal Wedding Guests: the Duchess of Cambridge

If all eyes were on the bride in Berkshire on May 20th then second glances were saved for sister of the bride. While she may not have been Pippa's official maid of honour, Kate more than co-ordinated with the wedding party. Here's a look at what the Duchess of Cambridge wore for Pippa Middleton's wedding.

With dusky pink roses round the church gate and bridesmaids with sashes to match, we had a good idea of Pippa's colour scheme before the bride had even motored into view in her vintage car. We got all the confirmation we needed when mother of the bride, Carole Middleton, strolled up to St Mark's Church at Englefield in pink so there were no surprises when Kate hopped out of her own antique motor in a shade of baby blush.

The dress is by McQueen and it has a bit of a forties vibe going on. There's a V neck top with long full sleeves caught with fitted cuffs, a statement waist and a mid calf skirt with soft pleats and a hint of flare.

No surprises in the hat department with a pale pink variation on the disc shaped fascinator that's become Kate's go to for just about every occasion.  There's even the solitary fabric flower accent that we've come to expect. The shoes are in keeping with her usual style too - dusky pink suede heels.

It matches the bridal party to perfection and it does what all good guest/ maid of honour frocks should do  - looks smart and elegant enough without screaming look at me. It's vintage style but not really vintage Kate but then, like we said, all eyes were on Pippa this time round.
