Pink is the colour for brides next spring. If you're not doing the whole long, white with veil thing and want a bit of a pop in the frock then pink is the one to aim for. Admittedly, pink royal wedding dresses aren't your daily occurrence and even pink bridesmaids gowns are hard to come by as regal brides stick to the default setting of cream with everything. But you can still get some inspiration from the royals - here are five standout evening dresses with a rosy hue that might just get you thinking pink for your big day.

This rather gorgeous evening gown, worn by Crown Princess Mette-Marit of Norway, isn't just pink and fabulous, it was also the pick for a gala ahead of an actual royal wedding. It's a win, win. The top will flatter everybody, the skirt will walk up an aisle like no other while the sparkly belt adds enough interest and texture to stop the pink getting overwhelming. Add in the sleek hair and the big smile and this is a perfect pink wedding dress in the making.

Charlene does the total goddess in palest pink thing in this retro style column dress with sheer drape over the shoulders. Worn to a glitzy dinner marking the Queen's Diamond Jubilee in 2012, this light pink dress is a bit of a dazzler and would work well for most wedding venues. It's got length, it's elegant, there's nothing on show that's going to make your great aunt tut and it moves like magic. The retro hair might be harder work to pull off but with serious styling, this is a pink royal wedding dream come true.

Take away the sash from this one and you have a stand out pink gown that would suit a smaller wedding down to the ground. The asymmetric shoulders are also bang on trend for early 2017 while the layered skirt that Queen Maxima is clearly loving here will flatter any shape and walk like a dream down the aisle. The colour is about as pretty as pale pink gets and there's no denying that a ruched bandeau top is going to work for just about everyone. It's also another dress worn to a royal marriage so has the gala buzz. And if Miss World is your dream wedding look then just keep the sash. Magical.

The Duchess of Cornwall shows everyone how to make pink work and then some in this stunner of an evening gown which looks like it could make its way to a wedding and hold its own right away. The V neck is perfect, the long sleeves will keep you warm in the photos outside while the shaping is a marvel. The streaks of sparkle are a great idea for adding glitz without going over the top and result in a perfect wedding dress for an older bride who wants to stay on trend.

This richer pink look from Queen Mathilde has everything that a modern register office wedding needs. Just because it's not the full church/ hotel thing doesn't mean you can't go long and the simple shape of this pink dress is bang on for a smaller civil wedding that means business. The skirt has a flow and a little train while the top is chic and elegant without being over fussy. Add in a cracker of a hat just like Mathilde and this could be the stand out look of the season.
